Transport for London has suspended a Tube driver who led a chant of “free, free Palestine” on a train.
An in-depth investigation into the incident, which occurred on Saturday, is currently under way.
A video circulating online shows the driver initiating the chant over the train’s speaker system, with some passengers joining in.
Journalist Ruby Lott-Lavigna posted the footage online. The driver can be heard chanting “free, free” as passengers respond with “Palestine”.
The incident took place ahead of a pro-Palestinian demonstration that drew about 100,000 participants.
Minister for London Paul Scully has urged all workers to maintain a focus on their primary responsibilities and avoid escalating tension in the capital.
Other officials, including Security Minister Tom Tugendhat, have spoken on the incident, emphasising the importance of preserving the safety and inclusivity of public transport.
