Lady Gaga has called on Americans to vote for Joe Biden because "we needed somebody that was going to bring us all together for this moment, for this very important moment".
The 34-year-old Grammy winner joined Mr Biden on the eve of the US Presidential election at a rally in the workers' stronghold of Pittsburgh.
Gaga, clad in a white sweatshirt with "Joe" printed on the front, sat down at a white piano to give a short but inspired musical warm-up to the Biden headliner, peeling off her gloves.
"Gloves off because it's a fight – a fight for what you believe in," she said before launching into her hit "Shallow".
She called on the audience to vote for Mr Biden because "we needed somebody that was going to bring us all together for this moment, for this very important moment".
"No matter who wins tomorrow, we're going to have to do this together. Tomorrow's got to be peaceful," she said, alluding to the tensions that have swelled in the US before the poll.
The singer, who once lived in Pennsylvania, has been in this position before.
In 2016, she helped close out the campaign of Democrat Hillary Clinton, who lost in a shocker to Mr Trump.
Dancing in the car park was Jamie Scafuri, a 26-year-old hairdresser, who came with friends invited by someone who works for the campaign.
"We're hoping that it's the end of the Trump era," Scafuri told AFP. "We're hopeful. That's why we're here."

Islamophobia definition

How will Gen Alpha invest?
Mark Chahwan, co-founder and chief executive of robo-advisory firm Sarwa, forecasts that Generation Alpha (born between 2010 and 2024) will start investing in their teenage years and therefore benefit from compound interest.
“Technology and education should be the main drivers to make this happen, whether it’s investing in a few clicks or their schools/parents stepping up their personal finance education skills,” he adds.
Mr Chahwan says younger generations have a higher capacity to take on risk, but for some their appetite can be more cautious because they are investing for the first time. “Schools still do not teach personal finance and stock market investing, so a lot of the learning journey can feel daunting and intimidating,” he says.
He advises millennials to not always start with an aggressive portfolio even if they can afford to take risks. “We always advise to work your way up to your risk capacity, that way you experience volatility and get used to it. Given the higher risk capacity for the younger generations, stocks are a favourite,” says Mr Chahwan.
Highlighting the role technology has played in encouraging millennials and Gen Z to invest, he says: “They were often excluded, but with lower account minimums ... a customer with $1,000 [Dh3,672] in their account has their money working for them just as hard as the portfolio of a high get-worth individual.”
