Police shot and killed a man at a shopping mall in the US state of Alabama with a teenager and 12-year-girl hurt in the gun battle.
Shoppers told how they hid in a cupboard after hearing six of seven shots at the Riverchase Galleria in the city of Hoover late on Thursday. “It was terrifying,” Lexi Joiner told Al.com.
Police said two officers confronted an armed 21-year-old man and shot him. The dead man's name has not been released.
An unidentified 18-year-old man from Birmingham was taken to hospital with serious injuries. A 12-year-old girl was struck by gunfire and was stable in hospital.
Police said they did not know what sparked the gun fight. The officers were not hurt.
