SANA'A // Members of parliament criticised the government yesterday, holding it responsible for mishandling the war against al Houthi rebels in the north after seven weeks of a government offensive to crack the insurgency. "What we have heard today is something we have been listening to for five years," said Mohammed Abdellah al Kadi, a member of parliament from the ruling People's General Congress
"The main difference is that al Houthi presence was restricted in 2004 to a small part of a mountainous village. Now, the state is fighting in four provinces" and Sa'ada is under rebel control, he said. Mr al Kadi said that the government has failed in handling the situation in Sa'ada and the unrest in the south, and warned of the expansion of the tension to other provinces. "We need to know why al Houthi has become so powerful. The state has failed in dealing with the situation in Sa'ada and the southern provinces," he said.
"The minister of the interior said 50 people protested in the south, while the photos we got say there were thousands. The problem is that we do not acknowledge the crisis and once we acknowledge our crisis, we will be able to handle it," Mr al Kadi said. malqadhi@thenational.ae

How much of your income do you need to save?
The more you save, the sooner you can retire. Tuan Phan, a board member of SimplyFI.com, says if you save just 5 per cent of your salary, you can expect to work for another 66 years before you are able to retire without too large a drop in income.
In other words, you will not save enough to retire comfortably. If you save 15 per cent, you can forward to another 43 working years. Up that to 40 per cent of your income, and your remaining working life drops to just 22 years. (see table)
Obviously, this is only a rough guide. How much you save will depend on variables, not least your salary and how much you already have in your pension pot. But it shows what you need to do to achieve financial independence.

- Start with a simple recipe such as yogurt or sauerkraut
- Keep your hands and kitchen tools clean. Sanitize knives, cutting boards, tongs and storage jars with boiling water before you start.
- Mold is bad: the colour pink is a sign of mold. If yogurt turns pink as it ferments, you need to discard it and start again. For kraut, if you remove the top leaves and see any sign of mold, you should discard the batch.

Real estate tokenisation project
Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.
The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.
Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
