President Sheikh Khalifa abolished a decades-old UAE law banning dealings with Israel as part of ongoing efforts to normalise relations between the countries.
The UAE announced the issuing of Federal Decree-Law Number 4 of 2020, abolishing Federal Law Number 15 of 1972. The decision to remove the Israel Boycott Law will allow people and companies in the UAE to enter into agreements with bodies or people living in Israel or belonging to it by nationality as part of commercial or financial operations or dealings of any other nature.
It will be permissible to import and exchange or possess Israeli goods and products of all kinds in the UAE and to trade in them.
The UAE and Israel announced an agreement on August 13 to establish full diplomatic ties, while Israel committed to the suspension of its planned annexation of Palestinian territories.
The UAE-Israel Abraham Accord came into effect after a call between Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The accord has been praised internationally, including by the UN.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited the UAE on Wednesday as part of a regional tour, where he called for more Arab countries to establish ties with Israel.
Mr Pompeo said the Abraham Accord was “the most significant step toward peace in the Middle East in over 25 years”.
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Gargash recently said that the Abraham Accord will open up the region in a number of ways, including in terms of technological co-operation and wider trade.

Electoral College Victory
Trump has so far secured 295 Electoral College votes, according to the Associated Press, exceeding the 270 needed to win. Only Nevada and Arizona remain to be called, and both swing states are leaning Republican. Uefa Nations League: How it Works
The Uefa Nations League, introduced last year, has reached its final stage, to be played over five days in northern Portugal. The format of its closing tournament is compact, spread over two semi-finals, with the first, Portugal versus Switzerland in Porto on Wednesday evening, and the second, England against the Netherlands, in Guimaraes, on Thursday.
The winners of each semi will then meet at Porto’s Dragao stadium on Sunday, with the losing semi-finalists contesting a third-place play-off in Guimaraes earlier that day.
Qualifying for the final stage was via League A of the inaugural Nations League, in which the top 12 European countries according to Uefa's co-efficient seeding system were divided into four groups, the teams playing each other twice between September and November. What is hepatitis?
Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver, which can lead to fibrosis (scarring), cirrhosis or liver cancer.
There are 5 main hepatitis viruses, referred to as types A, B, C, D and E.
Hepatitis C is mostly transmitted through exposure to infective blood. This can occur through blood transfusions, contaminated injections during medical procedures, and through injecting drugs. Sexual transmission is also possible, but is much less common.
People infected with hepatitis C experience few or no symptoms, meaning they can live with the virus for years without being diagnosed. This delay in treatment can increase the risk of significant liver damage.
There are an estimated 170 million carriers of Hepatitis C around the world.
The virus causes approximately 399,000 fatalities each year worldwide, according to WHO.
