Sheikh Mohammed visits Yemeni singer injured in war

Yemenis took to social media to express gratitude for a visit by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed forces, to a Yemeni singer who is receiving medical treatment at Burjeel Hospital in the capital.

Fadl Mahmoud Saleh, known as a singer of patriotic chants and supporter of the Aden resistance against Houthi rebels, was transferred to the UAE to receive treatment for injuries suffered during the war.

The visit by the crown prince, on his birthday, came as a surprise to Mr Saleh, who was flown out of Aden, the interim capital of Yemen, to receive treatment fully paid for by the UAE.

Figures in Aden took to Twitter to show their appreciation for what they called a “humble gesture”.

"Mercy on you, you are the son of Zayed," wrote Ahmed Al Rabiezi, a Yemeni politician, commenting on the photo of Sheikh Mohammed with the singer at the hospital.

The order for the Emirates Red Crescent to bring the singer to the UAE came from Sheikh Mohammed.

"The modesty of this ruler made us feel ashamed, he reminded us of his father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan, Sheikh of the Arabs," Mr Al Rabiezi said.

"His highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed is the leader of humanity and the icon of modesty," tweeted Abdulaziz Al Shiekh, spokesman of the Southern Resistance.

Sheikh Mohammed also ordered the singer's house in Aden to be repaired at his expense.

Sarah Abdullah, a journalist from Aden, tweeted: "On his birthday and in such modesty Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed went to visit the singer of our revolution who was dispatched by the ERC to be treated in Abu Dhabi, so how we can be blamed if we fall in love with the UAE."

Sheikh Mohammed reassured Mr Saleh about his condition and wished him a quick recovery.

Mr Saleh extended thanks and appreciation for Sheikh Mohammed’s visit and expressed gratitude for the UAE's support of the Yemeni people in restoring legitimacy, security and stability in Yemen.

Meanwhile in Aden, the Emirates Red Crescent inaugurated on Monday the Year of Zayed in a big celebration held in Aden, the interim capital of Yemen.

The ERC summarised the most crucial projects built in five Yemeni provinces during 2017 and signed a new package of humanitarian initiatives to be implemented during the Year of Zayed.

The new package will focus on providing electricity to both the citizens of Aden and the surrounding areas affected by the civil war in the country.

"Words cannot express our feelings towards the UAE, its rulers and people for the support and the brotherly stances in such critical times " Dr Al Khader Laswar, the head of Aden University told The National.

Last year, the ERC restored 185 schools, distributed 509,921 food baskets rebuilt 22 houses, and restored 23 hospitals and clinics.

Furthermore, the ERC in Yemen is now working with 8 of UN organisations to better mitigate the humanitarian crisis happening in the country.

"The UAE has been standing by Yemenis the entire time, we are really grateful for everything they do for our people, who will be loyal to the UAE forever," the governor of Al Dhala province Maj Gen Ali Moqbel Saleh told The National.

Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.

The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.

Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.
