Saudi King and Crown Prince host Egypt's Sisi

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi on Tuesday travelled to Saudi Arabia to meet King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The government Saudi Press Agency did not disclose the topics discussed, other than to say that they exchanged views on “brotherly relations” in the city of Neom. King Abdullah then hosted a lunch for Mr Al Sisi as well as other Saudi and Egyptian officials who attended the meeting.

Abbas Kamel, Chief of Egypt's General Intelligence, was present at the meeting.

Egypt and Saudi Arabia have built strong ties under Mr Al Sisi, who came into power after his predecessor was ousted from office. Under Muslim brotherhood president Mohamed Morsi, Saudi-Egyptian relations suffered strains.
Since then, Saudi Arabia has assisted Mr Al Sisi financially in his efforts to rebuild the strained economy and Egypt is a key backer of Saudi Arabia's regional policies.

Last week, Egypt said it stood by Saudi Arabia in a political row with Canada after Ottawa urged the release of detainees in the kingdom.

Cairo’s foreign ministry said on its Facebook page that it was “concerned by the crisis between Saudi Arabia and Canada, which is a result of the negative tendency by some international ... sides of meddling in the internal affairs of countries in the region,” without elaborating.

Fireball

Moscow claimed it hit the largest military fuel storage facility in Ukraine, triggering a huge fireball at the site.

A plume of black smoke rose from a fuel storage facility in the village of Kalynivka outside Kyiv on Friday after Russia said it had destroyed the military site with Kalibr cruise missiles.

"On the evening of March 24, Kalibr high-precision sea-based cruise missiles attacked a fuel base in the village of Kalynivka near Kyiv," the Russian defence ministry said in a statement.

Ukraine confirmed the strike, saying the village some 40 kilometres south-west of Kyiv was targeted.
