Gunmen have shot dead a Christian man in the turbulent north of the Sinai Peninsula in the latest attack to target members of the country's Christian minority, according to Egyptian security officials.
Three masked gunmen carried out the attack, said the officials, who identified the victim as Bassem Attallah, 35.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the Saturday attack but it bore the hallmarks of ISIL militants, who are spearheading a year-long an insurgency in northern Sinai.
ISIL has repeatedly targeted Egypt's Christians, killing more than 100 in a series of deadly bombings and shootings since December 2016. The latest attack took place last month, when a gunman opened fire outside a church in Cairo, killing nine people.
