Britain lifts laptop ban on flights from Cairo



Britain has lifted a ban on carry-on electronic devices on planes arriving from Cairo airport, Egypt's civial aviation ministry said on Friday.

British authorities lifted the ban "after confirming that security procedures on Egypt's flights meet the requirements of the British Transportation Security Administration," the ministry said.

The United States and Britain in March banned large electronic devices such as laptops from being carried on to planes coming from certain airports in the Middle East and North Africa. The measures were imposed over fears that explosives could be hidden in these devices.

The ban affected nine airlines flying to the US and UK from the region, including Egypt's state-owned carrier Egyptair.

The US department of homeland security has since lifted its restrictions, beginning with Abu Dhabi on July 2, after verifying the implementation of stricter security measures at their home airports. These included increased screening for explosives and enhanced screening of passengers.

The rules on fostering in the UAE
