UN special envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, met with Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister, Adel Al Jubeir, in Riyadh on Wednesday.

Mr Griffiths, who replaced Mauritania's Ould Cheikh Ahmed in February, is looking to present a peace plan to the UN within two months to end the three-year conflict in Yemen.

He has warned against military escalation saying it could take peace "off the table".

But last week, the Saudi-led coalition confirmed the death of Al Sammad, the Houthi Supreme Political Council leader, who served as second in command of the Houthi rebel group.

The meeting comes after talks with Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, who met with Mr Griffiths this week.

The two discussed political developments in Yemen and efforts to reach a peaceful resolution to the crisis.

Saudi Arabia and the UAE are part of the Arab coalition that intervened on behalf of the internationally-recognised government of President Abdrabu Mansur Hadi.
