Qatari businessman denies charge over Rolls-Royce death collision

A Qatari businessman will stand trial next year after denying causing death by careless driving when a pedestrian was hit by his Rolls-Royce car in central London.

Hassan Nasser Al Thani, 41, appeared in court via video link from Doha, Qatar, to deny the charge following the accident in August 2019.

Charles Roberts, 66, died after being knocked down by Mr Al Thani’s purple Rolls-Royce Wraith. Mr Roberts died at the scene of the crash close to Buckingham Palace.

The Qatari, who lives in Kensington, west London, is due to stand trial in March next year. He has been given bail.
