A Pakistani hitman wanted for murdering around 70 people in his home country has been arrested in Hungary.
The 35-year-old, identified only as AZ, was with a group of illegal immigrants detained on Tuesday while trying to reach Austria.
Police in Hungary's Bacs-Kiskun county said the man was the target of an international arrest warrant issued by Pakistan.
Austrian police said the arrest was made after they tipped off Hungarian authorities.
The man is a professional gunman known as the "Pakistani butcher", and is accused of "around 70 contract murders" in Pakistan, Austrian police said.
He was arrested along with a group of illegal migrants at Boly, 175 kilometres south of Budapest and near Hungary's borders with Croatia and Serbia, the Austrian Federal Criminal Bureau said.
The Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung reported that the man had been operating as a people smuggler.
