In this week's podcast, hosted by Suhail Akram, we look at the phenomenon of "long-haulers" or "long-termers" – people who have recovered from Covid-19 but continue to experience symptoms weeks or even months later.
Diana Berrent, founder of Survivor Corps – a Facebook group with 90,000 members who discuss Covid-19 and its symptoms and seek each other's help – tells us about her experience with long-term symptoms of the disease.
Dr Natalie Lambert, associate research professor of medicine at Indiana University, partnered with Survivor Corps to research these long-haul cases. She explains why we need to take cues from patient experiences and carefully understand what they need to recover.
We also hear from Marcus Tomoff, a long-hauler who describes how his life changed ever since he got a false negative.

Ziina users can donate to relief efforts in Beirut
Ziina users will be able to use the app to help relief efforts in Beirut, which has been left reeling after an August blast caused an estimated $15 billion in damage and left thousands homeless. Ziina has partnered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to raise money for the Lebanese capital, co-founder Faisal Toukan says. “As of October 1, the UNHCR has the first certified badge on Ziina and is automatically part of user's top friends' list during this campaign. Users can now donate any amount to the Beirut relief with two clicks. The money raised will go towards rebuilding houses for the families that were impacted by the explosion.”
