Fifteen people were killed and 24 injured, several critically, when two minibuses collided in western Kenya, police said today. The accident happened around 8.30pm local time yesterday in the town of Webuye. "It involved two matatus which collided head on. Fifteen people were killed on the spot," western province police chief Francis Munyambu said. Nine of the injured were in critical condition with head injuries, while the other 15 were stable, although still seriously injured, he added.
Matatus are the local term for minibuses, a popular form of public transport, which are notoriously overcrowded, resulting in high fatalities when there is an accident. Mr Munyambu said the driver of one of the matatus swerved into the path of the other after colliding with a stationary tractor. He said the tractor driver, who had stopped without signaling, was blamed for causing the accident and would be prosecuted.

Real estate tokenisation project
Dubai launched the pilot phase of its real estate tokenisation project last month.
The initiative focuses on converting real estate assets into digital tokens recorded on blockchain technology and helps in streamlining the process of buying, selling and investing, the Dubai Land Department said.
Dubai’s real estate tokenisation market is projected to reach Dh60 billion ($16.33 billion) by 2033, representing 7 per cent of the emirate’s total property transactions, according to the DLD.

Saaed, meanwhile, faces the daunting task of caring for four family members with psychological disorders. “I’ve had no support and no resources here to help me,” he says. “It has been, and still is, a one-man battle against the demons of fractured minds.”
In addition to With Hope UAE’s frank social-media presence, the group holds talks and workshops in Dubai. “Change takes time,” Reem Al Ali, vice chairman and a founding member of With Hope UAE, told The National earlier this year. “It won’t happen overnight, and it will take persistent and passionate people to bring about this change.”

Build an emergency fund: Make sure you have enough cash to cover six months of expenses as a buffer against unexpected problems before you begin investing, advises Steve Cronin, the founder of DeadSimpleSaving.com.
