A 49-year old Indonesian woman was fatally run over by a vehicle when she was trying to cross the road on Wednesday in Al Qarain, Sharjah.
Once the Sharjah police operations room was notified, an ambulance was sent to the site and took the victim to Al Qassimi Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Sharjah police urged drivers to observe traffic rules and the public to use pedestrian crossings and exercise vigilance on the road to avoid run-over accidents.
Police said they have launched campaigns to raise pedestrian awareness.
