Woman blackmailed by fake Frenchman she met online

A man has been accused of eliciting sexual imagery from a woman he met online before blackmailing her with them.

The Filipino saleswoman, 39, said she met a man, who said his name was Mike and that he was from France, on the WeChat messaging app in October last year.

After the two became friendly, the woman sent 'Mike' pictures of herself and a video clip of her taking a shower.
The two exchanged mobile numbers and moved the conversation to WhatsApp. The woman said she then asked the man to help her find a job.
"He asked me to have sex with him and when I refused, he threatened to post the pictures and the clip I sent him online," she said.
The man was accused of attempting to blackmail her for Dh2,000 on November 3 last year. Four days later she reported him to Dubai Police.
In court, the accused, who is a 31-year-old Indian man, admitted blackmailing the woman, but denied asking her to have sex with him.
A verdict is expected on February 28.
