UAE weather: heavy humidity and high temperatures

ABU DHABI // Heavy humidity descended on the capital on Monday as forecasters predict temperatures will climb as high as 46°C.

Partly cloudy skies and haze are expected at times with moderate to fresh winds keeping conditions tolerable.

Stronger winds over the Arabian Gulf will pick up dust and sand, contributing to muggy conditions.

In Abu Dhabi, temperatures will range between 26°C and 42°C with the highest temperature expected in Dubai to be 40°C, dropping to 27°C in the evening. Further inland temperatures will peak at 46°C and dip to 18°C and a range of 20°C to 37°C is forecast in the mountains.

Conditions in the Arabian Gulf will be moderate to rough towards the western region of the country, while the Sea of Oman will be moderate in general, according to the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology.

Humidity will increase overnight and into Monday morning leading to a chance of fog across the country.

Similar conditions are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday as very warm temperatures and high humidity persist.

On Sunday, a sudden temperature spike led to a warning from doctors advising people to remain indoors and to drink plenty of water before fasting to stay hydrated.
