UAE unaffected by worldwide Nestle chocolates recall

DUBAI // The UAE is unaffected by a worldwide recall of Nestle products after reports that plastic was found in some chocolate bars and Easter eggs in the UK.

A spokesman said the Emirates was not part of the recall of products in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Malta, Austria, Singapore, the Philippines and Canada.

The brands affected include four varieties of 48-gram Kit Kat Chunky (peanut butter, hazelnut, chocolate fudge and caramel), and Kit Kat Collection Giant Egg made from September last year.

“Products in the UAE are not affected,” said Nestle. “Seven consumers in the UK have told us they found a piece of plastic in the product.

“So far we have not received any other similar complaints, but to avoid any risk whatsoever to our consumers we have decided to voluntarily recall the entire production of these four Kit Kat Chunky varieties and Kit Kat Chunky Collection Giant Egg.”
