ABU DHABI // The President, Sheikh Khalifa, sent his condolences to the Tunisian president, Beji Caid Essebsi, on the death of his brother, Kamal Caid Essebsi, yesterday.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, also sent a cable of condolences to the Tunisian president.
Mr Essebsi, 88, was sworn in as Tunisia’s first freely elected president last December and is the founder of the Nidaa Tounes political party which won a plurality in the 2014 parliamentary election.
He previously served as Tunisia’s prime minister in 2011 and as minister of foreign affairs from 1981 to 1986.
