UAE national service recruit dies

A national service recruit has died of a heart attack.

Ali Khalil Abdullah Al Hosani suffered a cardiac arrest, said the General Command of the Armed Forces.

Al Hosani was part of the fourth batch of national service cadets serving military training. The fourth intake began late last week.

His age has not been released.

The General Command of the Armed Forces sent its condolences and sympathies to Al Hosani’s family, according to a statement on Wam.

Training for the national service takes around nine months and is mandatory for every able-bodied Emirati male between the age of 18 and 30.

Al Hosani's death is believed to be the second death of a cadet since national service began on February.

The funeral will be held today after Asr prayers at the Bani Yas Graveyard in Abu Dhabi.
