Celebrate Allah’s remembrance and you will succeed in turn, the sermon will tell mosque-goers on Friday.
The Quran says "remember Allah much that you may be successful." (Al-Anfal: 45). It is among the easiest acts of worship and the best means to occupy one’s time, the sermon will say.
Remembering Allah imparts assurance to the heart, it is a cause for seeing one’s status upgraded and is a way to increase the balance of enduring good deeds: "but the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for [one's] hope." (Al-Kahf: 46).
It was narrated that people said to Uthman Ibn Affan "What are the enduring good deeds?" He said, "Reciting: 'there is no deity save Allah,' and 'Exalted is Allah,' and 'Allah is the Greatest,' and 'there is no might nor power but with Allah."
Yet, the greatest of Dhikr (remembrance of Allah) is to say, "There is no might or power but with Allah."
When a Muslim says this statement they are seeking strength and help from Allah. They are seeking refuge with Allah in facilitating matters, so they supplicate to Him submissively saying, "There is no might nor power but with Allah. Allah then says "my servant has become a believer in Me and has submitted to My power."
The virtues of this phrase was emphasised in many Hadiths and the Prophet often explained its merits to his companions.
It was narrated that Musa Al Ashaari said, "When the Messenger of Allah went towards it, (whenever) the people, passed over a high place overlooking a valley, they raised their voices saying Takbir (Allah is the Greatest). On that Allah's Apostle said (to them), 'Be merciful to yourselves (i.e. don't raise your voice), for you are not calling a deaf or an absent one, but a Hearer Who is near and is with you.'
One of the virtues of reciting this phrase is that it causes the forgiving of sins and removal of wrongdoings, the sermon will say.
Muslims can say it at all times and in all conditions and particularly when facing a state that is beyond their power or capabilities. In such case, they should rely on Allah and submit to Him, seeking His help and guidance.
But they should also say it at times of ease, then they are satisfied with their lives. Allah says, "and why did you, when you entered your garden, not say, 'What Allah willed [has occurred]; there is no power except with Allah?" (Al-Kahf: 39).
