ABU DHABI // To attain a peaceful life, one should have inner peace and spread that quality among others, Muslims will be told on Friday.
“Being peaceful with oneself gives tranquillity, thus giving stability to a country,” the sermon says.
Allah Himself calls people to the house of peace.
“And Allah invites to the home of peace and guides whom He wills to a straight path.” [10:25]
The term peace translated to “salam” in Arabic, and has a broad meaning in Islam.
Being at peace could mean being kind to your parents, neighbours, or showing respect to people and helping those who are in need.
The first words Prophet Mohammed uttered on his arrival in Medinah were: “O people! Spread the greeting of peace, feed the poor and needy, behave kindly to your relatives, offer prayer when others are sleep and thus enter paradise in peace.”
The sermon will also focus on the Prophet Mohammed’s journey to preach peaceful coexistence among followers of all religions.
“He also made spreading peace a basic tenet of faith,” the sermon says.
“The greeting of Muslims – peace be upon you – also calls for peace between themselves and others.”
Peace is fundamental in any society, and there are many deeds that lead a believer to paradise. One of them is spreading peace.
Prophet Mohammed once emphasised the importance of spreading peace.
“You will not enter paradise until you believe and you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I not tell you about something, which if you do, you will love one another? Spread peace [salam] among yourself.”
