Two men were hurt after jumping from the window of their fourth-floor apartment in Ajman when a fire broke out in the kitchen.
The pair, whose ages and nationality were not disclosed, were transported to hospital for treatment for their injuries, which were described as severe by Ajman Civil Defence.
They decided to leap from the window after the cooker in the apartment caught fire.
Fire fighters were alerted soon brought the blaze under control.
Col Raed Al Zaabi, deputy head of Ajman Civil Defence, urged the public to use fire exits in such incidents whenever possible.
