A traveller who assaulted a police officer trying to stop him from opening an emergency exit door at Dubai International Airport will see out his six-month jail sentence.
On November 26, at nearly 3am, the Russian defendant was trying to open an emergency exit door at the airport when a police officer approached him.
"The door led to the aeroplanes take-off area and unauthorised people are banned from going there because it poses great danger to their lives," the 29-year-old Yemeni officer told Dubai Criminal Court.
He said he tried to stop the man but he ignored him.

"I chased him and asked him to come back but he did not listen to me," he said.
He said that as he grabbed the man to stop him from leaving, the defendant resisted and assaulted him by poking him in the eye and punching him in the stomach.
"He poked my eye pressing on it really hard then kicked my knee so I was in pain and could not chase him," said the officer, who then called for police back up who arrested the passenger.
The defendant, 33, was convicted of physically assaulting a police officer and sentenced to six months in jail followed by deportation.
In court on Wednesday, his sentence was upheld.
