Two Emirati men made a miraculous escape after their car overturned and went up in flames in Ajman.

A CCTV video footage of the crash showed the car hitting the pavement before flipping on its side.

The men climbed out of the vehicle and stepped away before it burst into flames.

The motorist and the passenger sustained minor injuries.

“The car was entirely gutted in an accident that was caused by the driver’s reckless behaviour and by his overspeeding,” said Lt Col Saif Abdullah Al Falasi, head of Ajman Police's traffic and patrol department.

The accident happened in Al Raqaib residential area in the emirate.

“Once a report was received, patrols and rescuers were dispatched to the scene and those injured were taken to hospital,” he said.

Police have urged motorists to abide by the speed limits and avoid reckless behaviour on roads.
