Two stranded European siblings have been rescued after losing their way on Jebel Jais mountain in Ras Al Khaimah.
The emirate’s police and Civil Defence received a report about the incident at 7.10pm on Tuesday and immediately dispatched a search and rescue team to the site.
“A team of specialists from the Ras Al Khaimah Police and Civil Defence was dispatched, with the support of the National Ambulance, with the necessary equipment and vehicles that would help with the rugged terrain and the darkness,” said the UAE Ministry of Interior in a statement on Instagram.
The team was able to determine the location of the resident siblings after contacting them.
“It took two and a half hours to evacuate them from their location due to the difficult terrain and darkness,” said the Ministry.
“They are in good health, and were handed over to the National Ambulance to take the necessary action,”
A video of the rescue mission has been shared online, showing the siblings happy and thankful for being saved.
The Ministry urged the public to avoid going out and stay at home during the coronavirus outbreak.
