An Emirati teenager was killed after a car driven by his friend overturned on a beach in Ras Al Khaimah.
The driver, 17, was attempting to perform a stunt when he lost control of the vehicle.
He suffered moderate injuries while his passenger, also 17, died as a result of the crash.
The incident occurred at Shaam Beach on Saturday.
Police sent out a sent out a warning over the consequences of reckless driving, particularly by young people who have not obtained a licence.
“After receiving a report of the accident, police patrols and an ambulance from a nearby hospital were dispatched to the location,” said Brig Ahmad Al Naqbi, director of traffic at Ras Al Khaimah Police.
The police chief urged parents to ensure their children do not get behind the wheel before they are licensed to drive and to educate them of the importance of obeying traffic laws when they have passed their tests.
“Parents need to instil respect for traffic laws and regulations in their children and urge them to refrain from performing any behaviours or stunts that endanger their safety and lives,” Brig Ahmad Al Naqbi said.
