DUBAI // Forty-six people were killed on Dubai’s roads last year as a result of sudden swerving by drivers – a 10 per cent increase on the number of deaths the previous year (41).
Despite the increase in fatalities, there was a large drop in sudden swerving incidents from 2013 to last year, from 641 to 554.
The increase in deaths was a result of more buses being involved in such accidents, said Col Jamal Al Bannai, acting director of Dubai’s General Traffic Department.
The number of fatalities last year was a concern, the official said.
On Sunday, police launched an awareness campaign targeting bus drivers and young motorists.
