Abu Dhabi Police have told drivers not to exceed 80kph after the country was hit by poor visibility.
Poor weather conditions including high winds and sand storms left much of the emirate blanketed by cloud and dust on Sunday.
Responding to the conditions, officers said motorists should take extra care while driving.
They urged road users to leave plenty of space between their vehicle and the car in front and to pull over onto the hard shoulder if visibility became too low.
“Cars should keep their lights on during daylight if visibility is poor and not get distracted by using their mobile phones,” police said.
“They should also leave enough space between them and the car in front.”
Poor weather conditions across the UAE are expected to continue for the next two days, forecasters said on Sunday.
Winds will likely become even stronger this evening, picking up to 50kph in some areas, with rainfall and thunder also a possibility.
Clouds of sand and dust could reduce visibility to less than 2,000 metres in places, experts from the National Centre of Meteorology said.

- Cecelia Crocker was on board Northwest Airlines Flight 255 in 1987 when it crashed in Detroit, killing 154 people, including her parents and brother. The plane had hit a light pole on take off
