RTA chief and French ambassador in future projects talks

DUBAI // Roads and Transport Authority chief Mattar Al Tayer held talks with the French ambassador about the city’s ongoing rail projects and the involvment of French companies.

Mr Al Tayer briefed Michel Miraillet and his delegation on rail projects that the RTA intends to undertake over the next few years, including the expansion of the Red and Green Lines of the Dubai Metro, Phase Two of the Dubai Tram project and widening the scope of the public transport system by opening new bus routes.

Mr Al Tayer also thanked the several French companies that have been involved in Dubai’s transport expansion. Thales Group has set up a signals control system, a communication system between the control room and trains and between trains, while Systra acted as consultant for the Dubai Metro project’s Red and Green Lines. A host of French companies were also involved in the construction of the Dubai Tram project as part of the consortium with Alstom.

Mr Miraillet said he was delighted to see so many French firms involved in the city’s projects and said his country intends to broaden the scope of work with the RTA, according to state news agency WAM.
