ABU DHABI // Police have urged families to be more vigilant during Eid al Adha and National Day celebrations and to keep an eye on their children near roads.
Col Hamad Odeil al Shamsi, the head of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, appealed to parents to look after young children and not to leave them alone playing football on the streets or in public parks. He also warned against leaving children in the care of nannies.
Since the beginning of this year in Abu Dhabi, 11 children between the ages of one and seven have died after being run over, and three have been seriously injured, he said.
Col al Shamsi also called on families not to let children ride bicycles on busy roads during this period. He urged drivers to observe traffic regulations, stay vigilant, drive slowly, especially near pedestrian crossings, give priority to walkers and not use the Eid or the National Day or the forthcoming Club World Cup as a pretext to drive recklessly.

Defining head lice
Pediculus humanus capitis are tiny wingless insects that feed on blood from the human scalp. The adult head louse is up to 3mm long, has six legs, and is tan to greyish-white in colour. The female lives up to four weeks and, once mature, can lay up to 10 eggs per day. These tiny nits firmly attach to the base of the hair shaft, get incubated by body heat and hatch in eight days or so.
Identifying lice
Lice can be identified by itching or a tickling sensation of something moving within the hair. One can confirm that a person has lice by looking closely through the hair and scalp for nits, nymphs or lice. Head lice are most frequently located behind the ears and near the neckline.
Treating lice at home
Head lice must be treated as soon as they are spotted. Start by checking everyone in the family for them, then follow these steps. Remove and wash all clothing and bedding with hot water. Apply medicine according to the label instructions. If some live lice are still found eight to 12 hours after treatment, but are moving more slowly than before, do not re-treat. Comb dead and remaining live lice out of the hair using a fine-toothed comb.
After the initial treatment, check for, comb and remove nits and lice from hair every two to three days. Soak combs and brushes in hot water for 10 minutes.Vacuum the floor and furniture, particularly where the infested person sat or lay.

Marwan Lutfi says the core fundamentals that drive better payment behaviour and can improve your credit score are:
1. Make sure you make your payments on time;
2. Limit the number of products you borrow on: the more loans and credit cards you have, the more it will affect your credit score;
3. Don't max out all your debts: how much you maximise those credit facilities will have an impact. If you have five credit cards and utilise 90 per cent of that credit, it will negatively affect your score.
