ABU DHABI // Mawaqif has announced the times during Ramadan when motorists will have to pay for parking.
Fees will be payable from 9am until 2.30pm, and from 10.30pm until 2.30am. On Thursdays, the second period runs from 9pm until midnight. Friday parking in Mawaqif spaces will still be free.
The charges will be the same as normal and underground car parks are not affected.
Normal Mawaqif paid-parking times of 8am until midnight, and free on Fridays and public holidays, will resume after Eid Al Fitr.
Ramadan is expected to begin on Sunday.
The Department of Transport has also begun parking management in Al Ain’s commercial and cultural districts. Parking spaces have been introduced in Al Murabba, Al Madheef, Al Salama, Nad Al Rusas and Hai Al Humaira.
New parking bays in Al Ain will initially be free but the department would not say for how long. Illegal parking will not be permitted.
Members of the public are encouraged to contact the customer-care service in the department’s building in Oud Al Tawba if they have suggestions on how to improve the system.
