DUBAI // Two vehicles belonging to street vendors have been seized by Ras Al Khaimah Municipality.
The vendors were selling vegetables at roundabouts and on roadsides throughout the emirate, said Khalifa Mohammed Al Maktoum, Director of the Public Health department at RAK Municipality, adding that all of the vegetables that were on display in the vehicles were also seized.
The first vehicle was parked at a roundabout and the second vehicle was on the main road.
Mr Al Maktoum added that to ensure the public's health, the municipality has prohibited vendors from selling vegetables as said the food were from unknown origins and therefore unfit for consumption, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic language sister paper of The National.
RAK Municipality also fined 5 cafes for non-compliance with health and safety requirements as part of an inspection campaign running throughout November. So far 20 cafes have been fined.
