RAS AL KHAIMAH // Fifty-five people died on RAK’s roads in 2015, police have revealed, a 22.5 percent drop from 71 the previous year.
Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, commander-in-chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, said that by analysing the statistics and reports on road accidents, police were able to identify the causes of road deaths and develop appropriate solutions to minimise them.
The main causes revealed included speeding and entering a road without making sure it is clear.
Maj Gen Al Naimi added that the number of patrols and inspections was increased on roads last year due to an increase in traffic accidents.
RAK Police also implemented programmes to raise traffic safety awareness among the areas of the community, especially motorists and young people.
