Work on bridges to give drivers access to a new mall in Dubai is approaching completion.
Three flyovers will connect Al Khail Road and Mohamed bin Zayed Road to Al Khail Avenue mall.
Construction work is in the final stages, the Roads and Transport Authority said on Saturday, and 90 per cent complete.
The three bridges together stretch more than two kilometres and will provide smooth access to the shopping centre, in Jumeirah Village Triangle.
“The bridges will also improve the safety of Al Khail Road, besides improving the entry/exit points of the Jumeirah Village Triangle (JVT) and Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC) along Al Khail Road,” said Mattar Al Tayer, director general of RTA.
He said all road works will be completed by the first half of 2021 and open as the mall opens.
Operated by Nakheel Malls, Al Khail Avenue will have 350 shops, restaurants, entertainment outlets and services, and be connected to a 267-room hotel under the DoubleTree by Hilton brand.
Nakheel invested Dh114 million ($31m) in the roads access plan in a joint project with RTA.
The mall has been in the works since 2016 and the opening date was pushed back from 2018 and then to 2020.
A revised opening date has yet to be set.

Tips to stay safe during hot weather
