More than 2,400 Mazda cars are to be recalled across the UAE due to faulty windscreen wipers, it has been announced.
Galadari Automobile, the manufacturer’s exclusive distributor in the Emirates, said an issue with an electrical switch was to blame.
The immediate recall is limited to model 3 cars built between 2015 and 2017 and all repairs will be free of charge to customers.
Officials said the problem could potentially hinder driver visibility, although no accidents as a result of the flaw had been reported.
“We regret to say that wipers may become inoperative in affected vehicles due to a defective relay [switch] that disrupts electrical power to the wiper motor,” Galadari Automobile said in a statement.
“The relay becomes defective when metal deposits form due to heat generated during normal operation which causes eventual sticking of the relay contacts.”
