Police officials in Ras Al Khaimah have confiscated hundreds of motorbikes during a traffic safety campaign.

Four hundred motorbikes and bicycles were confiscated in the past two weeks by the police’s traffic and patrols department.

“Some motorbikes are unlicensed and have been causing disturbance in residential areas, they also risk lives of other road users,” said Brig Ahmad Al Naqbi, director of the traffic and patrols department at Ras Al Khaimah Police.

Inspections were carried out across the emirate.

“This is to enhance safety on roads, curb the number of accidents and save lives,” he said.

It also helps reduce the number of traffic offences, which includes biking in undesignated areas.

“I urge users of motorbikes to ensure their motorbikes are licensed and users of cycles to follow safety rules and precautions to make themselves visible to other motorists,” he said.
