Motorists in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah will enjoy free public parking during the Commemoration Day and National Day holiday.
Abu Dhabi's Integrated Transport Centre on Sunday said surface public parking bays will be free from December 1 to December 5 at 7.59am.
Public buses and ferry services in the emirate will operate to a Friday schedule.
In Dubai, the Roads and Transport Authority said all public parking areas in Dubai, except for multi-level parking, will be for free during the holiday over the same period. Sharjah also confirmed free parking.
Authorities in Abu Dhabi urged motorists to park in designated spots and not to block traffic flow. Motorists have also been told to follow rules regarding regarding resident parking, which operates from 9pm to 8am in certain areas. These areas are clearly marked.
Residents are getting ready to enjoy a long weekend with many off work from Tuesday until Sunday. Commemoration Day, which falls on November 30, honours those killed in service, while National Day, on December 2, celebrates the unification of the UAE 49 years ago.

Moment of the day Sadeera Samarawickrama set pulses racing with his strokeplay on his introduction to Test cricket. It reached a feverish peak when he stepped down the wicket and launched Yasir Shah, who many regard as the world’s leading spinner, back over his head for six.
