Extra baggage for Emirates passengers on select flights

Tired of sitting astride your holiday suitcase as a plucky bystander helps you try and make the zips meet, frantically guessing the weight of an expendable pair of shoes, as the clock ticks down the minutes to check-in time?

For Emirates passengers travelling in the final few months the year, priceless packing time playing out this scenario will no longer be wasted.

In fact, if you're flying Emirates in the near future to the below destinations, you may as well go and get yourself a new suitcase.

The airline has announced an allowance of up to 15 kilograms of extra baggage for passengers traveling to dozens of locations across the world.

The allowance is on top of the existing baggage limit of 30kg, meaning those travelling long-haul will have up 45kg worth of clothes, shoes and toiletries to see them through their trip.

But it does depend where in the world you're flying.

If you're off to Abidjan, Accra, Dakar, Entebbe, Harare, Luanda, Lagos, Lusaka, Manila, Cairo, Casablanca, Nairobi, Addis Ababa, Algiers Guangzhou, Beijing or Dar Es Salaam, you'll be eligible for an extra 15kg of clothes and shoes.

Those flying to Karachi, Mumbai, Kochi, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Jakarta, Cebu, Clark, Colombo, Amman, Islamabad, Kabul, Khartoum, Lahore, Multan, Sialkot, Tunisia or Peshawar can take on an extra 10kg.

Then, depending on your Skywards membership status, you'll be eligible for even more baggage weight. If you're a Silver Member headed to Beijing, that means 57kg of packing ability.

However, you'll have to act quick to take advantage of the extra luggage allowance. The offer is valid until September 30, for travel before 13 December and the full list of allowances can be found on Emirates' website.

So, unfortunately, no lugging an extra 15kg of festive sweets home for Christmas.
