Dubai Police fine 388 motorists for overloaded vehicles

DUBAI // Since January, police have fined the owners of almost 400 vehicles which were found to be overloaded.

In the last seven months, 388 breaches were noted by police.

Motorists who breach these regulations face their vehicle being impounded for a week, as well as a Dh200 fine and three black points on their license.

The Director of the General Directorate of Traffic at Dubai Police, Colo Saif Al Mazroui, said motorists had to be aware of their own safety and the safety of others.

Should a vehicle be overloaded, it could be difficult to control, the Col said, adding that these types of safety breaches had led to several fatalities over the past few years.
