Thousands of phone calls seeking help in minor traffic accidents or health emergencies were made to Abu Dhabi Police’s control and command centres during the Eid Al Fitr holiday, officials have said.
The force's operations department received 41,588 calls from people in different areas in Abu Dhabi during the three-day break.
The private and public sector had Eid holidays from May 22 to May 26.
"The number of incoming calls to the centres were high during this period but most of them were calls reporting minor traffic accidents or some health emergencies," said Brig Gen Nasser Suleiman Al Maskari, head of Abu Dhabi Police's (ADP) central operations.
“The ADP operations department is always ready to receive people’s calls around the clock, provide them with the best services and also coordinate with the concerned authorities to reach to emergency cases as soon as possible."
The senior official urged the public to cooperate with the police's initiatives and programmes implemented by the Security Media Department, which help introduce police services and raise awareness.
"People should not hesitate to call the emergency number 999, in case they were exposed to any emergency at any time," he said.
