Abu Dhabi airport will hold a one-hour evacuation exercise on Thursday morning.
The drill will take place in the terminal one departure area from 9am to 10am, but airport operations will continue as normal.
It aims to assess the readiness of emergency response agencies in the event of a crisis, Abu Dhabi Airports said.
The operation is being run in accordance with requirements from the UAE Civil Defence.
Meanwhile, work is continuing on the airport's Midfield Terminal. The new building is expected to open towards the end of next year and when complete, Etihad Airways is expected to move there.
Dubai airline Emirates and Etihad last week denied a media report stating that the former is considering taking over the Abu Dhabi airline.

What is the definition of an SME?
SMEs in the UAE are defined by the number of employees, annual turnover and sector.
