Thousands of illegal residents arrested in Abu Dhabi in Ramadan crackdown

ABU DHABI // A Ramadan crackdown on illegal residents led to the arrest of 3,371 individuals, including 21 beggars.

Those who were arrested will be tried and deported by the respective emirates.

Col Ali Ibrahim Al Tunaiji, head of the residency violators and expatriate follow-up department at the Ministry of Interior, said the campaigns were part of the ministry's efforts to counter violations of residency law across the emirates, adding that the inspection campaigns will continue nationwide to arrest violators.

Col Al Tunaiji urged residents to call the toll-free number 80080 to report violators.
