Food and grocery delivery company Talabat will support efforts to reduce food waste and provide food security in the UAE by donating items to charities.
Talabat is partnering on the initiative with the UAE Food Bank, a non-profit charitable organisation under the umbrella of the His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives.
The Food Bank will distribute the food around the country which includes items that are nearing their expiry date but are still safe to eat.
Ali Aldamanhori, General Manager of Talabat mart UAE, said the Covid-19 pandemic has increased food insecurity around the world.
"We will be able to fulfill our duty towards our community, while contributing to the government’s national effort to reduce food wastage and to provide food for those in need," he said.
Dubai Municipality's Food Safety Director, Iman Ali Al-Bastaki, said the partnership with Talabat would help those who need it most.
“We are looking forward to nurturing our relationship with Talabat UAE further and are confident that this partnership will yield positive results for all parties involved and ultimately those in need.”

What is safeguarding?
“Safeguarding, not just in sport, but in all walks of life, is making sure that policies are put in place that make sure your child is safe; when they attend a football club, a tennis club, that there are welfare officers at clubs who are qualified to a standard to make sure your child is safe in that environment,” Derek Bell explains.
