KHOR FAKKAN // Six of 11 people accused of participating in lewd acts at a wedding party – a video of which was distributed on social media – have appeared in court.
They are accused of indecent behaviour that breaches public decency. Five denied the accusation; one admitted to the charge.
Lawyers were present to defend E A, a female from the Comoros Islands, and Emirati M H.
Waled Al Mazroie, representing E A, who is in custody, asked for her to be released so she could take care of her children.
Saeed Al Zahmi, the lawyer for M H, said his client was sick and needed medical care and should be released. Mr Al Zahmi said no law governed people dancing and singing.
Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Ruler of Sharjah, ordered police to arrest people believed to be in the video as it went against public ethics and decency.
The next hearing will be on April 16.
