Ras Al Khaimah police have honoured an Emirati senior citizen for having kept a clean traffic record for 49 years.
Saeed Balhoun, 78, first obtained his driving licence in Kuwait in 1969 and has kept his traffic record clean until this day.
Brig Dr Mohammed Al Humaidi, Director General of RAK police`s central operations department, said that Mr Balhoun is an example of the "ideal motorist".
He said Mr Belhoun’s conduct contributed to making UAE roads safer,.
“Honouring the ideal motorist is in line with efforts to establish a partnership between police and the community, and helps enhance road safety by encouraging motorists to abide by traffic rules and regulations,” he said.
Mr Balhoun expressed great happiness at his recognition.
“My commitment to the rules came from a great conviction in maintaining the safety and security of roads for both pedestrians and drivers,” he said.
