DUBAI // A holiday for three brothers from Saudi Arabia took a tragic turn when one of them died during a skydive.
Majed Al Shuaiby, 35, from Riyadh, died on Thursday in Dubai while on vacation with twin brother Mansour and older brother Thamer.
“It’s like a dream until now,” Thamer told The National. “Majed was supposed to jump and come back to us.”
“It’s just a big loss to everyone. He was a good brother, a good friend, a good support, everything you could have asked for.”
The eldest brother said he was notified of the death when contacted by Dubai Police.
Majed’s body arrived on Thursday in Jeddah, where his father lives, and was buried on Friday at noon after prayers, said Thamer.
Majed was described as an “experienced skydiver”, on his way to becoming an instructer with hundreds of jumps in his lifetime, and also an avid scuba diver.
“He liked to take it to the extreme level,” he said. “Everyone wanted to stop him from doing these risky sports.
“Everyone is shocked but that is his life and that is his destiny.”
As of Friday night, no official statement had been released from either Dubai Police or Skydive Dubai.
“He was more than wonderful, that word doesn’t describe it,” Thamer said. “Everybody had a special relationship with Majed.”
