Ajman has become the latest emirate to cut the tax levied on hotels and restaurants to boost competitiveness and the economy.
As of this week, the fee will be reduced from 10 per cent of a customer's bill to 7 per cent, state news agency Wam reported on Monday.
Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, issued an Emiri Decree effective as of July 1 and which will remain in place until 31st December, Wam reported.
Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, chairman of the Ajman Tourism Development Department, said the move will make the emirate more attractive to tourists and enable hotels and tourism facilities to attract more visitors through more competitive prices.
Last month, Dubai and Abu Dhabi both announced they will reduce the fee from 10 per cent to 7 per cent.
