Rolling road closures in Abu Dhabi on Friday for cycling tour — graphic



Main roads in the capital will be closed to the public on Friday, October 21, as cyclists take part in the Abu Dhabi Tour.

The roads will be closed between 1pm and 5.15pm for about an hour at a time, starting by the Emirates Palace.

Cyclists will travel down Khalifa Al Mubarak Street before crossing over to Sheikh Zayed Bridge and into Khalifa City before rounding back through Yas Island.

Sheikh Khalifa Highway will be closed from 3.25pm to 4.25pm as cyclists head towards Saadiyat Island.

The cyclists will detour onto Reem Island by 4pm before heading towards Abu Dhabi Corniche and finishing at Marina Mall at 5.15pm.

The road closures

■ 1.15pm to 2.15pm: Start outside Emirates Palace

■ 1.50pm to 2.45pm: King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz St; Khalifa Al Mubarak St; Khaleej Al Arabi Street

■ 2.10pm to 2.55pm: The tour cuts across to Sheikh Zayed Street and over Sheikh Zayed Bridge on the E10 up to Al Yasmina School

■ 2.40pm to 3.35pm: In Khalifa City; 12th St, 15th St, 26th St and 3rd St

■ 3pm to 3.45pm: Approaching Yas Island; Al Raha Bvld and into the Yas Tunnel along Yas Leisure Drive

■ 3.10pm to 4pm: Streets around Ferrari World, Yas Mall and Yas Waterworld

■ 3.25pm to 4.25pm: Along Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Highway (E12)

■ 3.45pm to 4.35pm: On the E12, passing by the Louvre Abu Dhabi and on to Reem Island through Mina Link

■ 4pm to 4.55pm: On Reem Island past the Boutik Mall, Repton School and Paris Sorbonne University on to the Hazza bin Zayed Street bridge. It then takes Sheikh Zayed Street towards the Corniche

■ 4.15pm to 5.15pm: Abu Dhabi’s Corniche Road, 18th Street leading to Marina Mall and the finish line at the Breakwater
