Public Prosecutors in Dubai are to challenge the decision of an appeals court last month to overturn the conviction of the former minister of state, Dr Khalifa Bakheet al Falasi.
He had been imprisoned on charges of unlawfully taking control of an IT company that belonged to his late business partner.
Essam al Humaidan, the Dubai Attorney General, said yesterday the challenge would be made after the case had been examined by the Court of Cassation, according to the state news agency WAM.
The Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced Dr al Falasi to two years in prison in February after finding him guilty of deceiving his Lebanese business partner's sister into believing he owned 51 per cent of the company.
The Dubai Court of Appeal overturned the guilty verdicts on May 28.
